ART Discover 1: Best paintings ever.
Due to the fact that news are now available to users, i thought of posting something interesting (i hope you`ll like my ideea). So, the series will be called ART Discover, and will contain different informative stuff + best image features, maybe interviews later (will be something like a online magazine i hope). Today i will try to select some of the best paintings i saw on deviantART, no matter how popular is the artist who made them, because the whole point is to show you some high quality work (you are the target), not featuring the artist. You will see artists that are very well known and some that you never heard of. Here only quality matters.
Later i will make a header for those series, now i think it`s useless because simple codes like < div > don`t work. If you have some ideeas for future numbers of ART Discover, just leave a comment or a note, whatever. Tell me if you like the ideea,

Hugi #32 released
After much anticipation the issue #32 of the Hugi diskmag has been released. This issue is titled Hugi #32 - Say It With Flowers. It contains over 900 kilobytes of articles (worth several books!) in addition to plenty of great graphics and music for a total size of about 16 megabytes. Included are reports from demoparties, demoscene charts, artist interviews, demo reviews, short stories, tutorials and much more. Several Deviants have contributed material to this issue.
Diskmags are electronic magazines, published in executable format containing an interface with graphics and background music. Like the name suggests, diskmags were originally spread on floppy disks. Nowadays you can just download them, naturally free of cost. Diskmags used to be exclusive to the demoscene, publishing news, charts, interviews and reports, but these days they often c

Nikon d80 Makes it's Debut
Nikon has officially released the d80. How can you top a d200 in the body of the d70? And after this, the cost is still only $999.
Order, it now and you should be seeing it this fall.

dA News System
What happened?
The deviantART News system in version 5 has been revised from the bottom-up. The old code has been removed and rewritten from scratch to include all the new features we were planning for. As most of you, v4 users, can see, it is in many ways different from the old system. We hope that you enjoy using the news system to find "what's up on art" as well as to submit your own news articles as much as we did developing it.
In v5 News, there's no news administration. Well, not in the same sense as v4, anyway. Any logged-in deviant can post news articles, which do no longer need to be reviewed by administrators before being posted. Just click on "Submit News", paste your article in, write a summary, fill-in the title and that's it. You can preview your news submission before publishing it, to make sure there are no mistakes (you won't be able to edit your article later). When you're ready, submit your article, and see it on "Newest" (

News! News?!? NEWS!!!!!
News! News?!? NEWS!!!!!
News. Hot button issue, or more accurately, a hot topic issue. The news system as of right now is very…chaotic. People are going willy nilly with it and posting whatever they like and for a while it was even appearing in your message center. Let me address that quickly. A fix was made so that users can no longer submit to Hot Topics, DA Blog or Notices, so no more goofy spam showing up there anymore. If something shows up in there is has been posted by an administrator. So that should clear up some immediate clutter and abuse potential.
Next, things will be getting tweaked so things can be down voted, thus leaving things of a higher quality to rise to the top. Speaking of quality, I understand you are all excited about being able to submit news on your own now. But does this mean you should simply submit an article that says “I don’t know what to submit?” No it does not. You, as an individual need, need NEED! to take a bit of re

2006 Adobe Design Achievement Award winners
2006 Adobe Design Achievement Award winners
The Adobe Design Achievement Awards celebrate student achievement that reflects the powerful convergence of technology and creative arts. Students from schools in 24 countries throughout the world submitted nearly 1,500 entries to this year’s competition. Winners were chosen in nine categories, representing work by some of the most talented and promising student graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, animators, digital filmmakers, and computer artists from the world’s top institutions of higher education.
The student winners were honored by Adobe and the design community at a special event held on July 20, 2006, at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Canada.

Quality Control and a plead with the community
Over the last few days, I have seen MANY deviants post articles about how disappointed they are about the new design v5.  I've also seen a lot of deviants post comments and articles thinking they are god's gift to art.  I'm here to set the record straight and tell you to STFU and read up!
I've been here from basically the begining, I missed the release of dA by only a few months.  I've been here, watching, looking, searching, learning for 6 years now.  I've learned a LOT from other deviants here and their artwork.  I've learned a LOT about my own abilities through others comments and critiques.
I want to address a few things that people should know before they flame the site that has changed internet art forever.
First off, let's adddress the new design.  Ever since dA was launched, it's been plagued by server load issues and balancing.  Jark, the original creator of dA said once and I quote "The reason why dA has a

I  you all.

United States
I joined deviantART in May of 2001 as sadwings1. In the latter part of that year, I volunteered to work on the deviantMAG project. In the summer of 2002 I no longer felt "sad", or that the name sadwings1 fit who I was, so I moved into the new account. I remained as a Premium Content Staff member until late in `04 when I was offered a help position, which I gladly accepted. I love to help people. Recently I was transferred to the Policy Violations Team. Due to circumstances in RL, I was forced to give up the PVA position, thus the 'former staff' symbol :).

In real life, I am bench jeweler, a father and a husband. I am a pretty easy-going person, a must for dealing with teenagers. I live in Oklahoma (Go Sooners!) after having lived in Illinois and Missouri.

I like to get notes.
